dc.description.abstractEste ensayo contempla la manera cómo, en la Capitanía General de Venezuela, se recibió la Real Cédula de 1789 sobre buenos tratos a esclavos, desde la perspectiva de las representaciones sociales y sensibilidades. Ubicándose en el contexto caribeño e incluso atlántico, busca evidenciar los mecanismos memoriales que llevaron a la formación del miedo entre las élites criollas blancas no sólo hacia el esclavo sino también hacia la población “de color quebrado” a fines del siglo XVIII. Asimismo se analizan las expresiones de este miedo en vísperas de la Revolución de Independencia.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1From the perspective of social representations and sensibilities, this paper focuses on the way the 1789 Royal Decree on good treatment to slaves was "received" in the Captaincy General of Venezuela. Refering to the Caribbean and Atlantic context, its aims to highlight memorial mechanisms that led to the formation of fear amongst the white Creole élites, not only towards the slave population but also towards 'broken color' people in the late eighteenth century. It also analyzes the expression of this fear on the eve of the Revolution of Independence.es_VE
