Dr. Teresa de Jesús Reyes de Liscano

Curriculum Vitae

Teresa de Jesús Reyes de Liscano was born October 30, l933 in Caicara de Maturin, State of Monagas in Venezuela. She is now a widow.

She studied the first three years ( 1947-1950 ) at the Liceo Miguel José Sanz in Maturin, Staate of Monagas and the last two years ( 1951-1952 ) at the Colegio "Santa Maria" in Caracas, graduating as Bachiller en Ciencias Biológicas, July, 1952.

She studied then Medicine at the University of the Andes in Mérida / Venezuela and graduated as "Médico Cirujano" the 26 of July, 1958. From October 1958 to 15 October,1960 she worked as a Medical Resident in the Hospital "Los Andes" in Mérida.

She was then Profesora de Anatomia Patológica de la Facultad de Medicina en la Universidad de los Andes,Mérida from October 15, 1960 until 15 of May, 1979. Also she was teaching Histology at the School of Bioanalysis of the same University.

The title of MD the acquired 1972 at the University of the Andes in Mérida.

From May 15, 1979 until now the works as Profesora Titular in the Laboratory of Research in Pathology "Dr. Karlhanns Salfelder" of the University of the Andes in Mérida.

She worked also as "Médico Especialista I" in the University Hospital in Mérida of the Ministry of Health from 1971 until 1979 and as "Patólogo Forense Adjunto" from 1975 - 1979 at the "Medicatura Forense del Edo. Mérida", Ministry of Justice.

The received the condecoration "27 de Junio" in the third class in 1976 and the "Distinción Bicentenaria" of the University in 1998.

She was married 1958 to the Engineer of Forestry Carlos José Liscano who died 1974. They had four children ( Maria Teresa, Gladys Elena, Carlos Juan, and Mónica Adreína ) and two grandchildren.
