Abstract
En este artículo reflexionaremos sobre el rito de la fi esta ceremonial funeraria yanomami. A través del análisis del ritual y sus instrumentos (bailes, pinturas y adornos, juegos, cantos…) mostraremos que los diferentes ritos practicados en una sociedad, sean individuales o colectivos, frecuentemente estudiados de manera independiente, ganan al ser considerados como elementos de un solo conjunto. Se explorará el significado socio-cosmológico e ideológico de las diferentes dimensiones de esta forma de encuentro festivo, y veremos cómo la fragmentación de la unidad social y la completud de sus diferentes partes están representadas en las fiestas. Los ritos festivos reconstruyen así la unidad originaria y demuestran que la continuidad incluye la discontinuidad, elementos que pueden permitir la comparación con otros ejemplos de fiestas y celebraciones.

| Resumen en otro Idioma | In this article we will reflect upon the Yanomami funeral ceremony. Through the analysis of the ritual and of its instruments (dances, paintings and adornments, games, songs…), we will show that the different rites practised in a society, whether these rites are individual or collective, are better understood when considered as elements of a single whole, although they are frequently studied separately. We will explore the socio-cosmological and ideological meaning of the various dimensions of this form of festive encounter, in order to show how the fragmentation of social unity and the completeness of its diff erent parts are represented in the ritual. Festive rites there by restore original unity, and demonstrate that continuity includes discontinuity, elements that can enable comparison with other examples of ceremonial festivals and celebrations. |
