Resumen en otro Idioma | Objective: To describe the clinical findings of thyroid carcinoma (TC)in the General Hospital 450 of Durango City, México. Methods: A descriptive, observational, and retrospective study of the medical records of all patients diagnosed with TC who attended the hospital within the period from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2014 was carried out. The variables to consider were: age, sex, number of cases per year, evolution time, type of surgical approach for resection, area of injury and histopathological variant. Results: The total number of patients diagnosed with TC in the period was 59 (92% women and 8% men) with an age of 43.37 ± 16.72 years. The years with the highest number of cases were 2006 and 2010. Thirty six percent of the cases had an evolution time greater than 1 year, with partial excision being the most widely used technique (50%) and the right lobe the most affected (37%). The most frequent type of TC was papillary carcinoma with 80%and there were metastases in 23.7% of the cases. Conclusion: The presentation of the TC in recent years has not had a significant increase in the region, however, it is important to have a knowledge of the histological diversification of this thyroid neoplasm, which allows establishing care guidelines aimed at the prevention, monitoring and timely and effective treatment of the population. |
