Resumen en otro Idioma | This work deals with the presence of the mulatto woman in Brazilian literature, and her foreign representation as an exotic figure, from the colonial period to contemporaneity. The origin of prejudice surrounding her will be examined, as well as a submission to preconceived ideas, which have turned such figure into an object of social contradictions and manipulations. Though brief, this route will trace the integration of the mulatto woman into our literature, and reveal the traits comprising the whole of a perceptibly homogeneous literary convention, even considering the changes recorded since the 80’s. - This work deals with the presence of the mulatto woman in Brazilian literature, and her foreign representation as an exotic figure, from the colonial period to contemporaneity.
