dc.description.abstractLa creciente presencia de inmigrantes chinos en la sociedad venezolana, desde al menos hace 15 años, constituye una novedad poco analizada. Durante el año escolar 2006-2007, y en el marco de la exigencia académica de realizar una investigación científica para graduarse de bachiller, Simonetta Spavieri Mora y Víctor González de la Unidad Educativa Monseñor Bosset, con la asesoría del sociólogo Oscar Aguilera (Humanic, ULA), realizaron una aproximación a las características de la novel comunidad china residenciada en la Ciudad de Mérida, Venezuela. Utilizando métodos de investigación documental, entrevistas directas y una encuesta, se logró una precisa aproximación al que es, hasta ahora, el único acercamiento realizado en la ciudad de Mérida, a dicho grupo inmigrante; en este trabajo se les caracteriza demográfica, cuantitativa, familiar, laboral y socioculturalmente, y se resumen los resultados de esta investigación, la cual puede considerarse el comienzo de esta necesaria comprensión sobre la presencia china en la sociedad venezolana contemporánea.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1The increasing presence of Chinese immigrants in the Venezuelan society, since at least 15 years, constitute a novelty that has been barely analyzed. During school year 2006-2007, and within the framework of the academic exigency to carry out a scientific research as a requirement to obtain the high school graduation, Simonetta Spavieri Mora and Victor González, students from the Educative Unit Monsignor Bosset, counseled by the sociologist Oscar Aguilera (Humanic, ULA), realized a characteristics approach of the novel Chinese community residing in Mérida, Venezuela. Using methods of documentary investigation, direct interviews and a survey, it was achieved a precise approach to which it is, until now, the only approximation made in Mérida to this immigrant group. This paper includes a demographic and quantitative characterization of this community, but also it is describe its family, working and sociocultural particularities. Finally, it is reviewed the results of this research, which can consider the beginning of this necessary understanding about the Chinese presence in the contemporary Venezuelan society.es_VE
