| dc.description.abstract | La leishmaniasis tegumentaria americana (LTA) es considerada un problema de salud pública a nivel mundial, situación a la que no escapa Venezuela y en particular el estado Cojedes. En esta región el foco más importante es el barrio Rincón Solo. En nuestro país se han implementado programas de control, pero se ignoran las características sociales, económicas y demográficas de las regiones endémicas. Además, las investigaciones en Leishmaniasis se enfocan en aspectos biológicos; se obvian los métodos de operación social en salud, las diferencias individuales y colectivas y lo cambiante de las identidades culturales. Por tanto, el objetivo de esta investigación fue diagnosticar los conocimientos y prácticas sobre leishmaniasis e identificar las consecuencias psicosociales y económicas que genera esta patología, como lineamientos para el diseño de estrategias educativas de control. Se hizo un estudio descriptivo. La mayoría de los habitantes estaban familiarizados con la LTA, el vector y el tratamiento. A pesar de esto, ciertos aspectos son poco conocidos y hay conceptos erróneos sobre la transmisión y la prevención, y no existe cultura de prevención en la población. | es_VE |

| dc.description.abstract1 | The American tegumentary leishmaniasis (ATL) is considered as a public health problem worldwide. It is also a public health problem in Venezuela and in Cojedes State, in which the main focus is located at the Rincon Solo neighborhood. In our country it was implemented control programs, however it is ignored the social, economic and demographic characteristics of the endemic regions. Besides the researches about leishmaniasis are focused in biological aspects; it is obviated the social operation methods in health, the individual and collective differences and the changing dynamic of cultural identities. In consequence, the objective of this investigation was to diagnosis the knowledge and practices over leishmaniasis and identify the psychosocial and economic consequences that generates this pathology, as guidelines to design education
strategies of control. It was carry out a descriptive study. The majority of the inhabitants are familiarized with ALT, the
vector and the treatment. However, certain aspects are little known and there are misconceptions about prevention and transmission, and there is no prevention culture among this population. | es_VE |
