dc.description.abstractSe realizó un estudio exploratorio de propiedades físicas y de materia orgánica de suelos ubicados en la cuenca del río Maracay (estado Aragua, Venezuela) para relacionarlas con la susceptibilidad para favorecer deslizamientos superficiales. Se caracterizaron, mediante un análisis descriptivo univariante, algunas propiedades físicas y se compararon tomando como referencia su estructura y su asociación con la cohesión y la adhesividad. Los suelos ubicados en el tramo alto son homogéneos en cuanto al contenido de arena, generalmente superior al 60% y presentan alta variabilidad, en lo que respecta a los contenidos de limo y arcilla. La cantidad media de arena y arcilla guardan una relación de 10:1. Los límites de Atterberg sugieren que estos suelos son poco plásticos, susceptibles de pasar del estado plástico al líquido al agregar porciones reducidas de agua, lo cual magnifica el riesgo de ocurrencia de deslizamiento de los materiales, condición agravada por la intervención antropogénica.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1An exploratory study of the physical properties and organic matter of soils located in the Maracay River basin (Aragua State, Venezuela) was carried out to relate them to the susceptibility to produce the debris flows. Some physical properties were characterized by means of a univariant descriptive analysis and were compared taking as a reference their structure and its association with the cohesion and the adhesiveness. It was found that the soils located in the highest zone are homogenous in sand content, generally higher than 60% and shows variability with regard to the contents of silt and clay. The relationship between sand and clay is 10:1. According to the obtained limits of Atterberg, these soils are characterized by their low plasticity, susceptible to pass from the plastic to the liquid state when adding reduced portions of water, which magnifies the risk of occurrence of sliding of the materials, condition that can worsen with the anthropic intervention.es_VE
