| dc.description.abstract | En el artículo se presentan los resultados de un estudio arqueológico preliminar
realizado en la casa natal de Simón Bolívar, Libertador de Venezuela. Si bien este
inmueble perteneció a la familia Bolívar desde 1711, su construcción data de 1650, de
acuerdo a la documentación histórica disponible, lo que le otorga un importante papel
en la conformación del núcleo urbano colonial de Caracas. Los datos obtenidos a través
de la técnica de prospección geofísica y los materiales arqueológicos recolectados se
analizan junto a la documentación histórica, para ofrecer una interpretación de algunos
aspectos de la historia de la edificación durante los siglos XVII y XVIII. | es_VE |

| dc.description.abstract1 | The article presents the results of a preliminary archaeological study of the
birthplace of Simon Bolivar, Liberator of Venezuela. Although this building became the
property of the Bolivar family in 1711, its construction dates from 1650, according to
the historical documentation available, and this gives the building significance as being
influential in development of the colonial urban nucleus in Caracas. The data collected
through geophysical research and the examination of archaeological materials was
analyzed in the context of existing historical documentation. It is possible to arrive at
various conclusions concerning aspects of the history of building during the XVII and
