Resumen en otro Idioma | The objective of this trial was to determine the relationship between scrotal circumference (CE) with breed predominance (PR), age, body weight at birth (PN), body weight at weaning (PD), body weight at day of scrotal circumference measurement (PF), and daily weight gain between birth and weaning (GDP1), between weaning and scrotal circumference measurement (GDP2) and between birth and scrotal circumference measurement (GDP3), of crossbred bulls under tropical conditions at Venezuela. The CE increased with the age and correlated significantly with it (r = 0.8589, P<0.0001) and with PF (r = 0.8291, P <0.0001), GDP2 (r = 0.5674, P <0.0001) and GDP3 (r = 0.2867, P = 0.008). CE at one year of age was positively correlated with PD (r = 0.6567, P = 0.0001) and GDP1 (r = 0.6860, P < 0.0001). CE at one year of age was higher in Brahman bulls (P < 0.05) which had highest GDP1 and GDP3 (P < 0.05). In conclusion, CE increase as the age of the animals increased and this was related with the breed predominance and the daily weight gain. |
