Resumen en otro Idioma | The Kebra Nagast is an apocryphal text recovered by the Etiopian Ortodox Church. At the same time, it is central to the understanding of the biblical hermeneutics of the Rastafarians in Jamaica. Within a greater frame of interest in the Afro-Americans religious traditions, particularly in the case of Rastas, we approach the Kebra Nagast in order to understand the possibilities and scope of the text. We initially trace the footprints of Ethiopianism in Jamaica since the end of the XVIII century, and then discuss the Kebra as a continuation of an Africanist tradition of biblical interpretation. |
