Resumen en otro Idioma | The objectives of this study were to compare the estimate of the area of the individual sheet of Swietenia macrophylla King (mahogany), using three methods of calculation of the same. It was considered as reference values of linear area (AFLIN), monthly obtained by measurements of the length and maximum width of leaves, up to four months of age of the plants. These values were compared with measurements of calculating area of an ellipse AFELIP = abp), being a and b shafts greater and lesser of the ellipse and the method of calculation of the area of each worksheet in millimeter blade transparent (AFMIL). To do this, the silhouette of each leaf is delimited on this sheet. During the early stages of development in the nursery, sampled 150 of leaves of different ages, from plants of a completely randomized design. With the area obtained by the three methods, was carried out an analysis of variance, resulting in highly signifi cant differences between methods, indicating that methods by millimeter area and method of ellipse, show highly signifi cant differences with linear measures of length and width of the sheet. High positive correlations (r > 0.98), were highly signifi cant (p > 0.0001), indicating direct linear association between the three methods. The most accurate method of estimation of leaf area is AFMIL, since it assesses in real way leaf area. |
