| dc.description.abstract | La autora procura reconstruir las condiciones en las cuales se hace o no se hace antropología en Venezuela, desde la fundación de la única escuela antropológica de este país en 1954. Reconoce tres períodos: El primero con influencia boasiana, el segundo marcado por el mayo francés y la llegada a Caracas de antropólogos del cono sur, la tercera donde se corre el <<peligro>> de caer tradíamente en una moda postmodernista. Analiza factores que actúan de todos modos y en forma permanentes en Venezuela para obstaculizar el quehacer antropológico como el quehacer científico en general, tales como los problemas de identidad y la vergüenza étnica engendrados por las historia del país y la forma como se ha concebido y enseñando ésta | es_VE |

| dc.description.abstract1 | The author attempts to reconstruct the conditions under which anthropology has been practised, or not practised, since th founding of the only school of anthropology in this contry in 1954. She distinguishes three periods: the first under the influence of Boas, the second affected by the ideas of the <<French May>> and the arrival in Caracas of anthropologists from countries to the south, and the third in danger of falling, late, into a Post-Modernist mode.
