| dc.description.abstract | El Seminario de San Buenaventura de Mérida fue fundado para formar las elites que mantendrían
el control del poder colonial, los privilegios y el prestigio en la sociedad del Antiguo Régimen.
En el artículo se realiza un análisis prosopográfico para estudiar los estratos privilegiados de
aquella sociedad colonial, definidos por su calidad y categoría social para la formación de las
elites. Se muestra el rol protagónico que tuvieron los docentes y colegiales del Seminario de
