Abstract
En el siguiente trabajo se analiza el desarrollo de la estructura urbana de
la ciudad de Cancún a partir de la actividad económica del turismo, de la
cual ha derivado la aparición y consolidación de marcados contrastes socioeconómicos
que tienen su expresión espacial en una ciudad claramente
fragmentada, dividida, y con una creciente descomposición social, en donde
se registran altos niveles de segregación socio-espacial entre los espacios turísticos
y los no-turísticos, que han superado todas las previsiones de control
que respaldaron su fundación como un centro integralmente planeado.
