dc.description.abstractEn el presente artículo se exploran aspectos generales de la situación de la ingeniería en Venezuela: su formación, ejercicio, dimensión, así como aspectos del prestigio de la profesión. El periodo considerado abarca desde el gobierno del general Eleazar López Contreras, en 1936, hasta el final del mandato del general Marcos Pérez Jiménez en 1958. Se delinean también algunos antecedentes al periodo mencionado con el fin de explicar las razones por el escaso número de ingenieros a comienzos de ese siglo.es_VE

dc.description.abstract1In the present paper, general aspects of the engineering situation in Venezuela are explored: its education, employment, dimensions, as well as aspects of the prestige of the profession. The period considered extends from the government of General López Contreras, in 1936, to the end of General Marcos Pérez Jiménez's term in 1958. Some background is also given to the aforementioned period in order to explain why there were so few engineers at the beginning of that century.es_VE
