| es_VE |

dc.description.abstract1 | Principles of biomechanics are key to understanding dental dynamics and treatment design. One of the most widely used orthodontic attachments is the nitinol spring. Few works offer a complete biomechanical characterization of these, in terms of: elasticity modulus, resilience, toughness, expiration point and fracture point. Therefore, the objective of this study is to fully characterize a nitinol spring subjected to tensile stress. It is concluded that the closed spring of nitinol showed a high toughness and low resistance, whose orthodontic tensile for- ce should not exceed 100 gf in order not to cause permanent deformation, also by its mechanical behavior like that of human structures seems to have mechanical advantages and biological integration than others of different materials (stainless steel, nickel-cobalt and other alloys). | es_VE |
