In this case an ulcerated tumor-like lesion is observed on the upper arm; In all cases of the localization of lesions outside the lungs a secondary haematogenous dissemination from these organs took place. Often, then, the skin is involved. Of the other organs frequently the masculine sexual organs are affected. The reticuloendothelial system, at the contrary, is involved more frequently in cases of histoplasmosis.

The fungus cells in this picture are stained with the special method for fungi, the Grocott stain. There are several budding fungi of the species B. dermatitidis (with single budding).

Histologically a non-specific granulation tissue is found. Bacteriologically the presence of Bacillus anthracis was confirmed.
