Sporotrichosis

The biopsy of the verrucous, tumor-like lesion under the left eye revealed a non-specific inflammation of the dermis with some microabscesses and giant cells. In addition a few so called "asteroid bodies" may be localized. Fungi could not be detected neither with the HE stain nor by specific fungal stains. In the culture grew Sporothrix schenckii.

In the biopsy taken from the non ulcerated skin, the diagnosis of the tumor could be confirmed.
