A 35-year old farmer from the environs of the town Barinas / Venezuela noted since more or less ten months the development of a warty skin lesion on the tip of his nose. It was painless and not itching. Small skin defects were covered by crusts.

Sporotrichosis

Histologically fungus cells could not be detected inspite of a long search. In our cases of human infections with Sporothrix schenckii we never have seen fungi in tissues. Exceptionally there are present in large numbers in cases of a local immunodeficiency for instance after a treatment with cortisone in ointments.
