Abstract
La literatura sobre el petróleo en Venezuela ha estado asociada a un cuestionamiento y al binomio Gómez-petróleo que ha recreado una imagen negativa acerca de la tiranía y el uso irracional del recurso petrolero. La tradición de la narrativa petrolera ha tendido a representar la dominación de las compañías extranjeras y la pobreza circundante que generan las mismas. Pero la corriente actual comienza a dar paso a la subjetividad, y en esa tendencia se inserta
Antonio López Ortega, quien quiebra el concierto de males y denuncias y desprecia los temas recurrentes de explotación y dominación, para adentrarse en una narrativa intimista, plena de imaginación, de un pasado remoto y fugaz. Se observará que la búsqueda de nuevos temas y estilos narrativos llevan incluso el escritor a despreciar el aporte de otros autores que representaron el fenómeno petrolero venezolano.
