Se realizó una evaluación participativa del uso de plaguicidas agrícolas, a partir del diseño de un esquema metodológico que considera los criterios a seguir para desarrollar procesos participativos. La evaluación se efectuó en la comunidad de Gavidia, Municipio Rangel, Estado Mérida-Venezuela con el fin último de identificar y analizar los problemas asociados al uso de plaguicidas. Durante la evaluación se aplicaron cinco talleres y ocho herramientas participativas: mapa de la comunidad, calendario agropecuario, matriz de manejo de plaguicidas y fertilizantes por rubro, línea de tendencia, identificación de problemas, priorización de problemas, árbol de problemas, y dialogo semi-estructurado. La contaminación de quebradas por plaguicidas, la aplicación de productos cerca de la escuela y viviendas, la inadecuada manipulación de los productos, el incremento del numero de productos utilizados en los últimos años y el uso de plaguicidas extremadamente tóxicos, fueron los principales problemas evidenciados en los resultados. Se establece como causa detonante de los mismos el manejo inadecuado de los plaguicidas, el uso de productos extremadamente tóxicos y la falta de educación o asistencia técnica dirigida a los productores.

Resumen en otro Idioma | We conducted a participatory assessment of the use of agricultural pesticides, starting with the design of a methodological scheme that considers the criteria to continue to develop participatory processes. The evaluation was conducted in the community of Gavidia, Rangel Municipality, Mérida State, Venezuela with the ultimate goal of identifying and analyzing problems associated with the use of pesticides. During the evaluation, five workshops were applied and eight participatory tools as well: map of the community, the agricultural calendar, matrix management of pesticides and fertilizers by item, trend line, identifying problems, prioritizing problems, problem tree method, dialogue and semi - structured. Pollution of water streams caused by pesticides, the application of products near schools and housing, inadequate handling of products, the increase in the number of products used in recent years and the use of highly toxic pesticides, were the main problems highlighted in the results. The main detonating cause stablished of the results was, the improper handling of pesticides, the use of extremely toxic products and the lack of education or technical assistance to producers. |
