| dc.description.abstract | Este estudio propone una aproximación al análisis
hermenéutico interpretativo de Iniciación en la
Intemperie (1990) y Diamante Fúnebre (1991)
de Gerbasi para develar los temas y símbolos
reiterados. Las bases teóricas se fundamentaron
en: (a) Durand (1981) sobre imaginario simbólico
humano; (b) Cirlot (1992), (c) Chevalier (1986), (d)
Bruce-Mitford (1997) y (e) Fontana (1993) acerca
de la significación simbólica; y (f) Todorov (1981 y
1992) con hermenéutica interpretativa. Del análisis
se tiene que: (1) La simbología presente en Diamante
Fúnebre se pueden incluir dentro del régimen Diurno
(Nictoformos y Diaréticos) de Gilbert Durand al estar
implicados con la oscuridad, la tiniebla y la ascensión
espiritual humana; (2) Los poemas de Iniciación
a la Intemperie muestran una relación biunívoca
nostálgica tanto del paisaje natural venezolano frente
a los momentos de infancia y juventud del poeta de
Canoabo; (3) Reiteración de asuntos existenciales
como la muerte, la soledad, la inmensidad y la
angustia en el corpus poético revisado; (4) Algunos
símbolos reincidentes en Iniciación en la Intemperie
son: intemperie, cielo, noche, soledad, muerte, ave,
pájaro, silencio y ojos; y (e) Los símbolos que se
repiten en Diamante Fúnebre son: azul, noche,
infancia, estrella, muerte, flor, vida, soledad y día.

| dc.description.abstract1 | This study proposes an approach to the interpretive
hermeneutic analysis of Gerbasi’s Initiation in the
Open (1990) and Funeral Diamond (1991) in order
to reveal the reiterated themes and symbols. The
theoretical bases were based on: (a) Durand (1981)
on human symbolic imagery; (b) Cirlot (1992),
(c) Chevalier (1986), (d) Bruce-Mitford (1997)
and (e) Fontana (1993) on symbolic signifi cance;
and (f) Todorov (1981 and 1992) with interpretive
hermeneutics. From the analysis we have: (1)
The symbolism present in Funeral Diamond can
be included within Gilbert Durand’s Diurnal
regime (Nyctoforms and Diaretics) as they are
involved with darkness, gloom, and human spiritual
ascension; (2) The poems in Initiation to the Open
Air show a nostalgic, biunivocal relationship
between the Venezuelan natural landscape and the
poet of Canoabo’s childhood and youth; (3) There
is a repetition of existential themes such as death,
loneliness, immensity, and anguish in the revised
poetic corpus; (4) Some recurring symbols in
Initiation to the Open Air are: open air, sky, night,
loneliness, death, bird, silence, and eyes; and (e)
The symbols that are repeated in Diamante Fúnebre
are: blue, night, childhood, star, death, flower, life,
